Dear Supporter,
A unique opportunity has presented itself this year regarding the improvement of Boone County’s state park, Big Bone Lick. By becoming a sponsor of the yearly Bad-to-the-Bone Duathlon Saturday, September 18, local businesses have a chance to directly affect the revitalization of this park and its significant history through a monetary contribution or in-kind donation that can be used to support the race. In exchange for your donation, we will place your logo on our website with a link to your website, as well as all printed materials (next year) including the race day t-shirt which all participants receive.
Support from local sponsors will be especially appreciated this year because the Kentucky Commissioner of Parks, Jerry Van der Meer, has given Friends of Big Bone permission to update the signage for the Big Bone Creek Trail, the park’s main trail from the Visitor’s Center. In the past, money made from this event supported some of the educational endeavors sponsored by FOBB. This year, however, the earnings from this event will go directly into the physical improvement of the park via trail signage whose content has been designed by Stanley Hedeen, author of Big Bone Lick, Cradle of American Paleontology. Kentucky Parks will also contribute to the revitalization of Big Bone through improvements in parking, the park facilities, and the creation of an interpretive center.
Because FOBB is dedicated to preserving the history and science of Big Bone Lick through its education programs in the community and support of the Park, the group is looking forward to actively contributing to the physical improvement of BBP. Thus the combined efforts of the state, FOBB, and sponsors of the race will provide a united front in making Big Bone Lick a destination for educators, scientists, and visitors.
Be a part of this local effort. Support the Bad-to-the-Bone Duathlon and become a sponsor for this race. Your contributions will enable Big Bone Lick to continue as a local park as well as evolve into a world class site known for its significant role in the settlement of our country and its contribution to the understanding of paleontology.
